Hi Pasco,
Thanks for your reply.. yes, I know in Brussels u have to check-in for the Eurostar and show your passport...
But I was curious if anybody knows for a fact the answer to my question...
I'm just curious which way is Schengen and the EU union heading towards..
You say that potentially there might be ID checks between Sweden and Denmark ? Can you elaborate? From the research I've done, there are checks only when entering Sweden from Denmark, and not when exiting.
Thanks
It's like when travelling a low fare airline. You are not obliged by law to show a passport at checkin, but they can still refuse to allow you to travel per their own rules and regulations. Hence, the company providing transport could demand that non-citizens show their passport. Also, the only ID valid outside of your own country is your passport, so it is still a good idea to bring it, even though it is technically not required. The best thing with Schengen is that it almost removed the need to show passport while crossing borders inside EU.
