För vissa "brott" begågna och du är straffad för så kan det vara så att du måste gå via ambassaden.

A HUCKNALL man who won a trip to New York has had his dream holiday plans shattered because he stole an apple more than 30 years ago.
John Wells has been told he cannot go to New York until he has an interview with the American Embassy about the offence in 1971.
But the next available interview at the Embassy is in February - two months after the trip.
The 55-year-old was fined £10 for stealing the apple during a boozy night out with a friend. This is classed as a 'spent conviction' in the UK but under American law anyone with a criminal conviction must declare it and apply for an entry visa.
Mr Wells won the dream trip in a competition with Smooth FM. He said he had travelled all over the world before and the conviction has never caused a problem.
A spokesman for the US Embassy in London said he was unable to comment on individual cases but that the application process could only be sped up in certain circumstances.
He said: "Expedited visa appointments are considered on a case by case basis and can be granted under limited circumstances, such as family emergencies or illness."
