Hmmm, har du verkligen sovit där? Jag minns att jag läste om hostelet på Tripadvisor och tänkte att det var synd om alla turister som lurades till att bo i dett råtthålet med massa insekter

I do not usually come and write reveiws but when I stayed here I felt the need to tell people to stay away from this place at all costs. I have travelled in lots of places around the world and stayed in poor conditions before but this place has taken it to a new level. Im supriesd the government has not closed it down to be honest.
In my words its like an old factory that was turned into as many 'cells' as possible constructed with old materials gotten from a skip. they never finshed the walls or ceilings and you can hear everything around you. The wooden lats for a ceiling probably cost more than a few sheets of plasterboard to complete the walls and ceiling.
The rooms or cells you could call them consist of a door, light, bed and walls (just about). The place is dirty and dark. The staff are rude and unhelpful. Homeless bums sleep in the reception area at night (no joke). If I was the owner I would be ashamed of myself for being the owner of such a place and for charging 40 dollars a night to stay there. The government should be ashamed for allowing such an establishment to exist.
The toilets are dirty and there is one shower on each floor for about 30 cells. You can hear people going to the toilet from your room. A truly exhilarating experience.
I only just read about the bed bugs and thankfully slept in all my clothes when i was there. We used the place as an incentive to stay out all day and night. The first night we had to stay out until the bar closed at 4 and get up at 8 to go out it was so appaling.
We stayed here as a last resort as we tryed booking hotels/hostels weeks in advance but everywhere was so expensive or booked out, do yoursefl a favour and book somewere else earlier and spend more money for somewhere else.
The location is the only good thing I can say about this place. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Vore intressant att veta när artikeln är skriven för när jag bodde där (9-13 april 2008) var det rent, 2 duschar per våning och ett flertal toaletter per våning. Inte som i artikeln ovan. Han har helt rätt i hur det är uppbyggt, det är precis som jag skriver ett rum i storlek som en garderob!
Några insekter såg jag absolut inte, däremot kan jag tänka mig att det har varit problem där innan för man fick inte förvara mat i rummen.
Beroende på vad man vill göra i NYC, betala för upplevelser eller betala för boende så kan detta hostel ändå rekommederas, förutsatt att du inte är där för att sitta på ett hotellrum. Priserna är ju ändå sjukt låga, vi flög och bodde 4 nätter i april i år för 4400:- / person...nu har ju priserna gått upp men du hittar ju ändå flyg för ca 4800:- och som sagt 180 dollar för det antal nätter han frågade om.
Till sist, varför skulle jag INTE ha bott där?
