With the party at Ko Phangan ,it did not start before the year 1990. Hat Rin beach was a mostly quiet unspoiled beach thru the 1980's and Ko Phangan was a bit like Ko Payam or Little Ko Chang in more recent times , it was an alternative island to the creeping development and mass tourism (and police attention) occurring on Ko Samui.
