Jag fick detta ifrån ett program som handlade om engelsmän som köpte hus i utlandet. Har för mig det var på TV8. Kolla på Viafree om programmet fortfarande finns på deras play sida. I avsnittet handlar det om ett par som ska bygga eller bygga till ett hus i Sicilien.

In order to erect a building or make any structural changes to one, it is essential to first seek permission from the local commune. It usually takes about 3 months to get the approval and paperwork sorted. Construction cannot start until the planning permission (permessi comunali or concessione edilizia) comes through. Any property built without the permission is considered illegal and the owner may be subject to heavy fines.
