A 13-year-old nephew of a businesswoman in Zamboanga City has been reportedly kidnapped by still-unidentified persons from his home in Barangay Santa Maria in Zamboanga City Wednesday morning.
The aunt of the alleged kidnap victim, who filed a complaint to the police but requested that she not be identified by mediamen, said it was 10 a.m. Wednesday when her neighbors last saw her nephew alone and outside their residence.
The complainant is one of the owners of a recruitment agency operated by their family.
The aunt of the boy said that at around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday night, she received a call coming from an unidentified number. The caller purportedly was demanding P2 million ransom for the safe release of her nephew.
The businesswoman said she became speechless when the caller demanded ransom. She said she even heard over the phone the voice of her nephew calling her name and asking for help.
Police operatives in Zamboanga City meanwhile were concentrating their investigation on one of the complainant' s household help, identified as Marlon Evangelista.
The boy's aunt said Evangelista did not report back to their residence to work after he asked permission to spend a day-off on Sunday.
The last text message that the complainant allegedly received from Evangelista was on Sunday night, purportedly telling her that he would be going to his relatives in Barangay Tulungatung in Zamboanga City.
Aside from Evangelista, police investigators were also looking for Marlon's sister, reportedly named May-May. She reportedly also works as a housemaid in the complainant' s residence.
May-May allegedly asked permission to leave Zamboanga City on Monday, purportedly to visit her family in Siay in Zamboanga Sibugay province.
Authorities were exerting efforts to trace the location of Marlon and his sister, who are now considered as main suspects in this allegedly latest case of kidnapping in Western Mindanao.
