character question which asks applicants to declare whether they have been
convicted of a crime or offence in any country (including any conviction
which is now removed from official records).
To enable this office to further process your electronic visa application
it is necessary for you to provide further information relevant to your
answer to the above character question as declared in your electronic visa
application. This can be done by sending an email to

A copy of the court conviction for the offence
the date(s) of the conviction of the offence;
whether a fine was imposed by a court for the offence and for what
monetary amount;
whether a period of detention or periodic detention was imposed for the
offence and for what period of time;
whether a sentence was imposed by a court for the offence and for what
period of time ("sentence" includes any form of determination of the
punishment for an offence);
whether a suspended sentence was imposed by a court for the offence (eg
required to undertake community service).
a personal account of the events leading up to and including the
offence(s).

(Note: Under the Migration Regulations a visa applicant must respond to an
email request for information within 28 days. If the requested information
is outstanding after this date, a decision may be made on the visa

incorrect information as part of their application, there may be grounds
for cancellation of the applicant's visa.
Working holiday visa applicants must be outside Australia when they apply
and at the time a decision is made on their application.
