DIAC have finally announced their new fees structure which is coming in to effect as of 1 July 2013 and unfortunately the extra fees for secondary applicants are extremely high. Warning as my email below does not contain good news!!!
Please see the link below:
http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/new-visa-charges-1july2013/proposed-visa...
The fees for Temporary Business 457 visas are already increasing 100% from $455.00 to $900.00 as of 1 July 2013. However, the DIAC are also introducing new secondary application fees for all additional applicants included in a 457 temporary business visa application as below:
Each additional applicant over 18 years of age (spouse or de-facto partner for example) $900.00
Each additional applicant under 18 years of age $225.00
Therefore the new cost for a family of 4 to apply for a subclass 457 temporary business visa is $2250.00 but this is only if they are outside Australia. Currently it is only $455.00 for a family of four!!!
The DIAC have also introduced a subsequent temporary application charge for certain applications applied for onshore, which includes the 457 temporary business visa. This charge will apply to all applicants who apply for a temporary business visa in Australia and it is the first time a visa is granted in Australia. Therefore this is going to hit all of those working holiday visa holders, subclass 417 visa, who then transition to the 457 temporary visa.
This charge is a further $700.00 per applicant, therefore this would make the cost of a family of four applying IN AUSTRALIA for their first temporary business visa $5050.00
A subclass 417 visa holder and their spouse, applying for their first 457 visa in Australia will cost $3200.00
This is obviously a deterrent for employers to sponsor the working holiday makers as per all of the media hype!!!
Subsequent temporary application charge
A subsequent temporary application charge is a charge that you might need to pay when you lodge a visa application for certain temporary visas when you are in Australia.
This charge will apply to the first visa that is granted when you are in Australia.
This charge will be paid by each person in an application and is based on your individual temporary visa history. This charge will be paid in addition to any other visa charges that apply to your visa application at the time of lodgement. You should check the proposed Visa Pricing Table to find out if this charge will need to be paid when you lodge your visa application.
This charge will not need to be paid for:
bridging visa applications, criminal justice visas or enforcement visas or
permanent visa applications.
ENS – subclass 186 applications
The ENS main applicant visa application fee will not be increasing, and still remains at $3060.00. HOWEVER there will be additional fees for secondary applicants, as below:
Each additional applicant 18 years and over $1530.00
Each additional applicant under 18 years of age $765.00
This therefore makes the cost of a family of four applying for permanent residency now $6120.00.
Obviously, if you have any applications pending, it is extremely beneficial to get these lodge before 1 July 2013 as not only do we have these huge feel hikes but we also now have legislation changes to the 457 temporary business scheme which could see labour market testing making a comeback.
Please feel free to contact me to discuss further or if you have any questions and as always, I will keep you updated.
